The News Media Association has announced the appointment of two legal, policy and regulatory affairs advisors.<\/p>\n

Reporting to LPRA director Santha Rasaiah, Lucy Gill and Kerry Nicholson will work across the whole range of NMA lobbying issues including press freedom and topics such as copyright and media ownership as well the organisation’s services.<\/p>\n

Lucy’s previous role was senior parliamentary researcher to the previous shadow attorney general Emily Thornberry. She has worked in the media monitoring units of the Labour Party, UK Civil Service and the BBC.  She started out in financial journalism, after reading History at Peterhouse, Cambridge University and the post graduate Diploma in Law.<\/p>\n

Kerry combines law with public relations experience. She has been working for Freuds, the public relations agency, dealing with corporate clients.  After reading law at Pembroke College, Cambridge, followed by the Bar Professional Training Course, Kerry’s legal interests have also spanned legal drop in clinics in Panama and an internship with the Texas Defender Service, working with defence lawyers on capital punishment cases.<\/p>\n
