Geordie Greig, editor of the Daily Mail, will deliver the third annual Society of Editors Satchwell Lecture in London in May.<\/p>\n
Greig was appointed as editor of Mail Newspapers in September 2018. He moved from The Mail on Sunday where he had been editor since April 2012.<\/p>\n
The Satchwell Lecture takes place at Stationers’ Hall on 11 May and is free to attend. <\/p>\n
Ian Murray, Society of Editors executive director, said: “The Society of Editors Satchwell Lecture has quickly grown a reputation for being a must-attend event in the media calendar and this year will prove no exception.<\/p>\n
“We are greatly honoured to have Geordie Greig as our speaker, one of the most influential forces in the UK media today.”<\/p>\n
The event will start at 7pm with a reception, followed at 7.30pm by the lecture and a question and answers session with time for networking to follow. The evening will end at 9pm.<\/p>\n
The Satchwell Lecture is named for former Society of Editors executive director Bob Satchwell who stepped down from his role in March 2017 due to a life-changing illness.<\/p>\n
Last year’s lecture was delivered by The Times editor John Witherow with the inaugural Satchwell Lecture delivered by BBC Director General Lord Tony Hall in 2018.<\/p>\n
Although there is no charge for the event, donations towards the Journalists’ Charity will be encouraged.<\/p>\n
