The first is the Big Issue Foundation works to help vendors by linking them to specialist support for their health, any addictions, managing their money, accommodation and their plans for the future. The second is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/coronavirus-charity-appeal-help-for-parents-with-house-full-of-hungry-children-hj36hv5cv\" class=\"linkweb__RespLink-yfb9n-0 brTsSA\" data-di-id=\"di-id-5b470547-13ba0b73\">Family Action<\/a>, a 150-year old charity that provides practical, financial and emotional support to families experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation. Last year it helped 60,000 families.<\/p>\n<p>UK publishers have<a href=\"ttps:\/\/www.newsworks.org.uk\/news-and-opinion\/onemillionclaps-raises-millions-for-the-nhs\"> donated advertising space<\/a> to support the NHS Charities Together appeal.&nbsp;A new campaign #onemillionclaps has been launched to raise money for NHS staff and volunteers who are working hard to save lives during the COVID-19 crisis. Thirty six #onemillionclaps adverts (as of today) ran in the Evening Standard, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Daily Express, Observer, Metro and all the participating regional newspapers and will continue to run in the coming days. The advertising space was donated by the news brands.<\/p>\n<p>Comedian and author Tony Hawks has recorded a new song, called Lockdown, and is using it to raise awareness of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2020\/04\/09\/lockdown-telegraph-launches-charity-single-hardest-hit-covid\/\">Telegraph&#8217;s Coronavirus Appeal<\/a>. All proceeds from the appeal go to the national poverty charity Turn2us, which is providing emergency grants for people in the UK who have been hardest hit financially by the Covid-19 crisis.
